CELESTIAL MECHANICS
CONCEPTUAL FINE ART WITH A TOUCH OF MAGIC
Virginie Knysak graduated from the famous Parisian Camondo Design School
that is part of the Union of the Arts Decoratifs located in the Louvre building.
In her latest series, she moves beyond functional constraints to foreground the visual.
The shapes are structured and the proportions finely designed suffused by the parisian spirit and its architecture.
THE TIMES OVERLAPS
She transcends different techniques, weaving together contrasting creative mediums in a unique way, playing with the paradoxes.
She nurtures the use of traditional techniques (sketches, drawings, hand painting, etc) whilst she includes into the craftmanship
the newest technologies (CAO et DAO, laser cutting, digital milling machine, etc). Through the creation of these bas-reliefs,
she unites art, sculpture and design approach: three dimensional motifs.
These subtle encounters create a distinctive style: meaningful, elegant, timeless pieces.
One of the main materials she preferred to use for the latest series is a high-quality, natural yellow wood cardboard with a raw, translucent appearance. Its aspect echoes as much the golden hue of the sand as the color of the Haussmannian buildings surrounding her, while also recalling old French books.
When all become immaterial and fugace, the Designer - Plastician Artist Virginie Knysak, captures the time into her artwork
to make it tangible through her poetry.
POETRY OF THE COLOUR
Her work is shaped by several transversal influences that converge both thematically and in resonance with her aesthetic sensibility. One of the most significant is Stanisław Lem’s novel Solaris, together with its cinematic adaptation by Andrei Tarkovsky. She delights in paradox, suffusing her work with a hazy, dreamlike quality that poetically confronts mechanical and geometrical forms.
BRINGING "CONTROL AND RANDOM" TOGETHER
She gives a modern twists to the wood cardboard material thanks to the way she transforms it: the laser cutting technique connects the past and the future, becoming the medium of creation.
Like for the tuning of the harmony of colours she has developed for each artwork, the designer Virginie Knysak carried out many experimentations to get the right settings and lazer power for the projet.
The path and making by the lazer is guided by the CAO drawing but neverthless with this technic there is still a random part dued to a variable intensity of the heat. The way it burnts the wood cardboard, gives each piece a singular aspect.
The choice of the material and technique support the story behind each artwork.
One-off numbered pieces bringing singularity and statement in an interior.
